GCR’s New Listing on Aubry Street: Renovating with an Eye Towards Energy Savings and Comfort

When Duncan Cheney bought a house (2834 Aubry Street) steps from the Gentilly entrance to the Fairgrounds he wanted to renovate and resell the historic shotgun, making improvements that included better energy efficiency. Cheney selected Green Coast Realty as the listing agency. First, he gutted the house and before installing new drywall, Cheney put in foam board between the framing studs. In order to seal it even more from outside air and moisture, he had foam insulation sprayed between the studs. He also added a central HVAC system with a heat pump, which is more efficient than gas or electric alone. more…
