Lisa Jenkins considers first impressions to be everlasting, and she stresses this during this employee spotlight interview. As the Green Coast receptionist, she is often the first impression that clients, associates and potential business partners have of the company, so it better be a good one.

“It starts with me,” says Jenkins. “Customer service is a very important part of my life, because I’m dealing with different types of people everyday, and I need to have these skills.”

Jenkins, a Kenner native, brought a solid amount of customer service experience to her Green Coast position when she joined the team in late 2017. For more than 18 years, she worked as a customer service/receptionist for a local company, and raised three children. Customer service and parenting might appear vastly different, but to succeed at either you need to be able to read people™s moods, be friendly and get them what they want.

Receptive and approachable service is something Jenkins sees throughout the company, and she feels a sense of community within Green Coast. The management is personable and individually they act more like team members, promoting inclusivity and a shared vision.

“We’re on a building mission and always looking for a new development,” Jenkins says.

As the interview ends, Jenkins shows what she means by customer service. She walks back to her desk just as a young man is walking through the Green Coast doors. She looks at him with a smile and asks, “Hello, what can I do for you?”

Moments later, the man leaves with his request fulfilled and a smile of his own.
