To say Pythian Market Marketing Manager Ale Madrid knows the New Orleans culture scene is like saying Alvin Kamara knows how to break a tackle. They don’t just know it; they own it.

Since moving to New Orleans in 2013, Madrid has made learning about the city her primary focus. Along with her friend Maggie Robert, Madrid started the lifestyle blog Babes and Beignets to explore her new city, making it a go-to resource for thousands who want to know the latest on where to eat, drink, find entertainment, party and live “la vida NOLA.”

“I became entangled in the city’s cultural scene, and it’s just incredible because New Orleans offers so much to do,” Madrid says.

Now the Pythian Market “A Food Hall for All” has become Madrid’s playground for recreating a culinary and cultural hub in an historical building that for decades brought people together. With a wide-ranging New Orleans menu from some of the city’s most talented chefs, food plays the market’s starring role with room for visual art adorning the walls, music, and Madrid’s specialty: events.

“Pythian Market is not only a great place to eat and drink, but you can also do yoga here, hear music, join networking opportunities, watch the Saints, and take part in your community,” Madrid says. “I can go on and on about what’s happening at the market.”

And she does, rattling off how they’re hosting a food drive for Grace at the Green Light and the Women and Children’s Shelter, Holiday Drag Brunch, a visit from the 7th Ward’s Chocolate Santa and helping nurse the city’s collective hangover with a New Year’s Day Brunch just to name a few. It’s an enticing list and when you talk with Madrid, you’ll find yourself adding items to your own calendar.

“When I read and hear about what The Pythian meant to the New Orleans, I feel honored to be here,” Madrid says.“And I love being able to bring back that cultural spark and community spirit.”

You get the feeling that Madrid is only getting started.
