Magnolia Physical Therapy is used to challenges. Just one month after co-owners Lisa Taglauer and Beth Winkler opened their first clinic, Hurricane Katrina hit. But Taglauer and Winkler were undeterred from their plan to provide “Freedom From Pain.” While they rebuilt their own lives in the storm™s aftermath, they also built what today is the largest private physical therapy practice in the New Orleans metro area.

The Pythian clinic marks Magnolia’s fourth clinic, and, as Taglauer points out, the location offers an interesting mix of residents and workers.

“What makes a difference here is that we’re in a residential/commercial area, so we can appeal to larger, more diverse audience of potential patients,• says Taglauer. “Plus, construction is booming here with a lot of activity, and that means a growing population with healthcare needs.”

The clinic provides convenient hours, 7AM-6PM Monday-Friday, and there are two fulltime physical therapists on duty and available to treat a variety of conditions, including back and neck pain, shoulder pain, hip and knee pain and many others. Plus, co-owner and physical therapist Beth Winkler also treats patients and recently completed advanced course work in women™s health, and can assist with a number of health issues such as pelvic pain, incontinence and similar conditions.

Physical Therapy Assistant Katie Fruge, a long-time member of the Magnolia team, was recently announced as the clinic’s director.

The Magnolia staff has been active in their new community, holding screening events and educating people about physical therapy benefits. Taglauer says that patient education has always been a critical part of their approach, helping people realize that they don’t have tojust live with pain, and that physical therapy can provide a pathway to a healthier and pain-free lifestyle.

She adds that she’s impressed with the support coming from Green Coast, particularly the Pythian Market.

“We’ve been partnering with the market and offering complimentary chair massages during happy hour,” Taglauer says. “It’s a winning combination: get a massage then grab a cocktail.”

If you need physical therapy or want a free screening, please contact Magnolia either online, or by calling one of their four convenient locations.
