The South Broad Health Clinic in the renovated pharmacy at Washington and Broad will be operated by Access Health Louisiana, a 20-site network of community health centers across the state, when it opens later this year, officials announced Thursday.
“Access Health Louisiana, the largest Federally Qualified Health Center network in Louisiana has been collaborating with Broadmoor, Hoffman Triangle, Freret, and other neighborhoods around the South Broad Street area, as well as with Green Coast Enterprises, in order to open “South Broad Community Health” at the junction of Washington and Broad,” said Mark Keiser, Access’ executive director and CEO, in a news release. “It is scheduled to open later this year and provide services to all regardless of the ability to pay.”
Officials say the clinic will be the “lynchpin” of the Community Greens corridor, which also includes the Propeller business incubator, the new 3 Potato 4 and Laurel Street Bakery locations, and the offices of Green Coast Enterprises, which has spearheaded the $8.7 million development efforts.
“It’s truly an amazing transformation,” Green Coast Enterprises’ Lex Kelso said in the news release. “Just two years ago, this was a desolate forgotten corridor and now, thanks to public and private investors, it’s exploding with businesses, commerce and more opportunities.”
The clinic will open in the fall, said Will Bradshaw, president of Green Coast Enterprises.
